Our transitional tee is named after Althea Gibson. She was an American tennis player who bridged the racial gap in tennis and golf. In 1956 she became the first person of color to win a Grand Slam and join the LPGA tour in 1964. Billie Jean King said, “Her road to success was a challenging one, but I never saw her back down.”
